ICN – Muslim Funeral & Burial Services

Introduction:        ICN owns 425 Qiblah-oriented Muslim graves.  ICN strongly recommends reservation of graves. We offer full burial service for all Muslims. All you have to do is contact us; volunteers of ICN will take care of everything, inshallah. ICN does this work for the sake of Allah subhan wa talla and no fees is payable to us. All charges are third party costs. 

Procedure:         Once the person has been certified dead by the authorized physician. Funeral home services will collect the deceased from the hospital or home and transport the body to the funeral home.  The deceased is washed and covered in coffin cloth and placed in a wooden casket. The deceased is then taken to the masjid of your choice for salatul janazah (funeral prayers). After the prayers, the deceased and the mourners travel to the cemetery in a procession. The cutoff time for reaching the cemetery is 3.30PM. At the cemetery the deceased is interred in the reserved grave by placing the wooden casket in the bottomless concrete grave box. The grave is then covered with dirt. You may purchase a name plaque from the cemetery at an extra cost. Building of any structure over the grave is not allowed.

 Location of Cemetery - between 75^th street and 63^rd Ave on west side of Cass Ave., once inside the cemetery gate keep turning right or follow the road till you reach Section M, Block A.

 A.  Funeral Home :     Depending upon the location of the deceased we will advice you the name, telephone number and location of funeral home service provider. The service they provide is collection of deceased, washing, coffin cloth, basic wooden casket and all transportation. Relatives may participate in washing of deceased. In case of the deceased being a woman we have woman volunteers for washing. Funeral stickers for your cars will be distributed before starting.

Miscellaneous Information: Death certificate is needed before collection. Personal information of the deceased is needed. All fees must be paid before burial by cash or check to the service provider direct. Same day burial depends upon location and timings.  All activity performed is according to our shariah as much as possible. In case of the deceased having no relatives or survivors please contact us and we will try our best to raise funds from Muslims in the area. Illinois state social services also provides financial assistance for burial to qualified applicants.

Over-time charges for weekdays burials:

After 3:15 p.m.                                                                 $  85

Over-time charges for Saturday burials begin after 12:00 noon

Sunday burials are charged as over-time beginning at $365

Extra charge for a boxed casket with lid: $200

Muslim Funeral Services takes the body from the place of death to their funeral home, performs Ghusl (washing of the body according to Islamic Shari’ah), provides coffin, carries the body for Janaza prayers, and to the cemetery for burial.
