General Information
School Year and Holiday Schedule
ICN follows Indian Prairie School District 204 for the start and end of its academic year. It also follows District 204 for winter and spring breaks. It does not, however, follow the district for all other school closings due to special needs of our children for Islamic holidays. Some dates may also vary to accommodate adverse weather and special events.
Generally, the school commences in the last week of August and runs through the first week of June of the following calendar year.
Recommendation for Parents
In the interest of all children in the school, we expect the parents to adhere closely to the school policies and procedures. Please see the attachment “Parents’ Responsibilities.”
Arrival and Departure
Please refer to the Daily Schedule for exact timing. Please be punctual in the drop-off and pick-up of your children. Please escort your child inside the school building, and pick up where you left your child.
Tardy Tickets
Arrival later than ten minutes after the school starts is considered tardy. After three tardy tickets, parents will be charged a fine of $5 per tardy event, payable at the end of the month.
Late Pick-up Charges
Starting December 1, 2007, child pick-up later than 5 minutes after school closes will be charged $15.00 per event; and will be billed to the parents, payable at the end of the month. On Fridays, children have to be picked up at 11:30 AM.
Payment of Tuition Fee, Late Fee and Returned Check Fee
Full tuition is due at the signing of the Tuition Agreement. However, for your convenience, ICN will accept monthly installments that are due by the 10th of the month.
A late payment fine will be imposed for any payments after this date per the Tuition Agreement. Also, a returned check fee will be assessed for bounced checks.
Absences
Parents should call the school for an excused absence due to illness or other reason. A physician’s certificate is required for longer than two consecutive sick days. Except for illness or death in the family, an absence of longer than one week is not recommended.
(If your child is sick, please keep him/her at home for at least 24 hours after he/she has recovered)
Emergency Clothing
Every student must have a set of clothing at the school for emergency use.
School Lunch
Students must bring their own lunch from home, packed in a box or bag marked clearly with the student’s full name. It is recommended that you send a healthy and nutritious meal in a portion just appropriate for your child’s appetite.
Visitors
Visitors from the student’s families are welcome with prior arrangement. However, in order to avoid disruption in classroom activities, the school may limit the number of visitors to two per day.
Parent Volunteers
The school needs parent volunteers for various activities such as substitute teachers, chaperons on field trips and park visits, and daily closing of the school. Volunteers, please provide in writing, the following information to the school for record and use:
Name and phone number; day of the week and/or a time of the day of your availability; type of activity for which you offer to help.
Parent Teacher Conference
To monitor the progress of your child and/or a need for attention in a particular area, these conferences are held twice a year, first in November/December and then in March/April. You will be notified of the dates in advance.
Unscheduled Conference with Teachers
Please do not hold the teachers in the morning for discussion except for emergency information. An after-school appointment with the teacher, made a day in advance, is highly recommended.
School Open House
During the week before the school starts, parents are invited to attend an Open House and Orientation Program. Children are not invited for this program.
Changes in Contact Information
If there is any change in your mailing address, e-mail and/or telephone number, please inform the school as soon as possible.
